On Nepal’s subtropical plains, a bamboo school rises lightly from the earth, blending with its surroundings while offering a sustainable, low-cost model for remote communities. A multipurpose room on an elevated platform doubles as a classroom and a stage, wrapped by a wide veranda that extends learning and gatherings outdoors.

An elevated spine connects open-plan rooms, interspersed with courtyards, niches, and verandas that soften the boundaries between the inside and the outside. Built on a modular bamboo grid with interchangeable panels, the school is designed to adapt to changing needs. Open and inviting, it celebrates local craftsmanship while uniting education, community, and nature in an evolving, flexible form.
