Nursery in Senegal

In southern Senegal, a nursery anchors future education while resonating with local traditions. Curved walls guide circulation, balancing children’s attraction to fluid forms with structural order. The entry compresses then opens to a garden view, animated by rhythmic apertures and watchful sightlines from adjacent spaces. Classrooms connect directly to playgrounds and a shared hall, unfolding through wide openings to foster interaction. Built from laterite brick, rammed earth, and rosewood, the structure blends durability with tactile warmth. A layered roof ensures ventilation, shade, and shifting light. Rooted in community, the nursery offers safety, play, and learning in a sustainable, familiar form.
